The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club held its monthly tournament on March 6. Twenty-two anglers in 12 boats participated.
The A Zone Tournament required each team to fish in a designated area for a period of time and then switch to the next zone. The club uses this format once a year.
The team of Danny Batinich and Kevin Hugo took first place with five fish weighing in at 24.39 lbs. Steve Baker and Kirk Beardsley came in second place with five fish weighing in at 23.12 lbs. Shannon Perkins and Roger Hunter reeled in third place with five fish weighing in at 19.48 lbs.
Kevin Hugo earned the “Big Fish” title with a bass weighing in at 7.48 lbs.
The five fish totals were increased from last month as the fish are starting to spawn. All fish were released back into the lake after being weighed.
Tournaments are held on the first Saturday that follows the monthly meeting. Tournaments are held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Summer tournaments are held from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Canyon Lakers who like to fish and want to improve their skills in a friendly, competitive environment are invited to join the Bassmasters. For membership information, contact Travis Smith at 951-525-7550.
