Battery victim becomes unresponsive while being interviewed by deputies, succumbs to injuries

On August 6, deputies from the Perris Station responded to the 2000 block of Mount Verdugo Lane in Perris regarding a battery between two males.

According to Sergeant Richard Carroll of the Riverside Sheriff’s Department., the victim, 37-year-old Manuel Marroquin, became unresponsive during an interview with deputies. Deputies began life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived. Marroquin succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

As a result of the investigation, 30-year-old Claudio Perez of Perris was arrested for murder.
