The Menifee City Council has appointed Ben Diederich as the new District 2 city council member. The appointment was made during the regular meeting of the council on Wednesday, January 15, following candidate interviews conducted earlier that day at a special meeting.
Diederich’s appointment fills the vacancy in District 2 following the November 2024 election. The seat was previously held by Ricky Estrada, who was sworn in as mayor on December 17, 2024.
A longtime resident of Menifee, Diederich has served as a planning commissioner for the city for the past six years. He is involved in numerous community organizations, including the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Menifee. Diederich also served on the board of directors for Santa Rosa Academy.
“I am honored that the city council has appointed me as the District 2 city council member and look forward to serving my community and ensuring the safety and happiness of our residents,” Diederich said “With my experience as a planning commissioner, I hope to help our city attract additional amenities, entertainment options, and high-quality jobs that will allow residents to live, work, and play right here in Menifee.”
Diederich will be officially sworn in at the next regular meeting of the city council, scheduled for Wednesday, February 5, at 6 p.m. His term will run through the certification of the November 4, 2026, election.
