A bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle on Saturday evening near the intersection of Railroad Canyon Road and Canyon Lake Drive South in the City of Canyon Lake.
Canyon Lake Fire Department, Cal Fire, AMR, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene around 9:50 p.m. and located a bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle and ejected from his bicycle.
Canyon Lake Fire Department removed a portion of the fence to reach the victim down the embankment, according to Chief Jeff LaTendresse.
The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the collision.
The victim was identified as 42-year-old Keenan Ruiz.
The eastbound lanes of Railroad Canyon Road were closed for several hours while authorities investigated the scene.
