For 160 years, Boys & Girls Clubs have navigated times of tragedy and crisis to provide safe places for kids and teens. In April, Boys & Girls Clubs of Inland Valley announced a fundraising campaign aimed at supporting COVID-19 relief efforts in the Menifee and Perris areas. The organization is committed to ensuring club staff, members, families, and communities have the resources and support they need to navigate these uncertain times.
Thanks to the generous donations to the club’s COVID-19 Relief Fund, free Grab & Go meals are available to children Monday through Friday in the cities of Menifee, Perris, and Quail Valley.
“In a time of uncertainty, it is crucial we stand together as a community,” said John Whann, executive director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Inland Valley. “As a service agency, we feel privileged that we can still serve our community and provide a much-needed Grab & Go meal service. We have always provided free meals after school for our children in our clubs, but now we serve all children and families in our community and the surrounding areas.”
According to Whann, the organization is serving about 2,000 meals a week. Its goal is to serve 5,000. “We feel that the service we are providing for our community during these uncertain times will ensure our community, children, and families will come out of this stronger than ever,” said Whann.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Boys & Girls Clubs of Inland Valley postponed its major fundraisers and closed all club operations. Its many revenue sources have stopped. According to the organization, the estimated loss is $15,000 per week. Donations are needed now more than ever. To donate to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Inland Valley, visit http://www.menifeebgc.org.
