On August 14, an employee of a nearby business called 911 after noticing a vehicle parked in an unusual manner with a female slumped over the steering wheel in the Canyon Lake Towne Center parking lot, said authorities. AMR and Canyon Lake Deputy Verostek responded to the call.

When Deputy Verostek made contact with the female, he noticed several empty alcoholic beverage bottles and cans scattered throughout the front seat and center console of the vehicle.

Tamara Bonin, a 56-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license. Jail records show that Bonin was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center at 5:21 p.m. Her bail was set at $7,500.
