Canyon Lake’s 4th of July will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with the 21st Annual 4th of July Bike Ride. All residents are invited to take part in this annual tradition. This event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a potluck breakfast in the driveway at 30525 Longhorn Drive. A group photo will be taken at 8:45 a.m., followed by a short bike ride at 9 a.m. The “ride” will travel through Happy Camp, continue along Big Range Road, wind through Whirlaway Court, and finish at Moonstone Beach. Leading up to the evening’s fireworks show, DJ Mike Shroyer will be playing music from the pool deck starting at 8 p.m. The pool will close at 7 p.m.
Fireworks will be launched from Skipper’s Island starting at 9 p.m. To hear music synchronized to the fireworks show, tune to KOLA 99.9.
Beach and park access:
Park and beach hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on July 4 only. Access is on a first-come, first-served basis. Community Patrol will be actively enforcing park hours. Entry or leaving personal property before the specified opening time is not allowed. Any property left prior will be collected by the POA and can be retrieved 24 hours a day at Bluebird Hall through July 7. Any property not claimed before July 7 will be considered abandoned and disposed of.
Boating
- Unregistered boats will not be permitted on the lake. Marine Patrol will be verifying boats for current registration at all launch ramps. Unregistered boats are subject to a citation. All boaters must have a California Boater’s Card.
- No riders may be towed from any vessel on the main lake after noon.
- The gas dock will have intermittent closures throughout the day on July 4 and will close for the night at 4 p.m.
- Skippers Island and its dock will be closed from Friday, June 27, through Saturday, July 5.
- Boats must remain 350 feet from Skipper’s Island. The fireworks show will not begin unless all boats are within a safe distance and the fire chief announces “all clear.” The 350-foot perimeter around the island will be enforced up to 45 minutes after the fireworks show.
Road closures:
Beginning at noon, there will be no parking or viewing on any launch ramps or roads leading to a launch ramp.
At 2 p.m., Longhorn Drive will close at Strawberry Lane to Happy Camp. Only residents who live on Longhorn Drive past Strawberry Lane, guests at Happy Camp, and emergency vehicles will be permitted to pass. All traffic will be stopped at 8:30 p.m.
After 4 p.m., Canyon Club Drive (after the Lighthouse Drive intersection down to the lodge) will be closed to vehicle/golf cart traffic, allowing only pedestrian traffic. The Lodge parking lot is expected to be full by 4 p.m. To minimize congestion, only one vehicle/golf cart may wait for a parking spot to open up. Individuals requiring ADA access may be dropped off at the lodge. All vehicles, including golf carts, parked at the lodge must be parked in designated parking spots.
At 8:30 p.m., there will be road closures at the following locations:
- Lighthouse Drive at Vacation Drive to the lodge
- Canyon Club Drive at Canyon Lake Drive North
- Main causeway from Village Way Drive to Vacation Drive
- Blue Teal Drive will close once the causeway is closed
There is no parking on the causeways and launch ramps.
After the show:
- Pedestrian traffic will be given priority along Canyon Club Drive and the main causeway in the first 30 minutes after the show.
- Vehicles and golf carts exiting Village Way Drive after the fireworks show will only be able to turn right onto Canyon Lake Drive South.
- Vehicles and golf carts exiting the lodge will be required to exit onto Lighthouse Drive. From Lighthouse Drive, vehicles may turn left or right onto Vacation Drive.
- At the stop sign corner of Vacation Drive and Canyon Lake Drive North, vehicles and golf carts will only be able to make a left turn onto Canyon Lake Drive towards the east gate.
Gate Access
All guests, including those on e-bikes, must be on the guest list prior to entry.
All riders and drivers, including members and non-members, entering the community from any entrance and on any vehicle, including personal electric vehicles (eBikes), must present a valid Canyon Lake POA, state, or school-issued ID unless using an RFID transponder or POA card for access. Passengers are exempt.
The POA encourages residents who are inviting guests into the community to utilize the ePass service. Residents can log into their GoAccess account online and email or text their guest a pass. Guests can print the pass ahead of time, or the gate attendant can scan the pass on their mobile device. Guests will still need to provide their valid driver’s license along with the ePass. For guests who did not print the pass, the gate attendant will issue a parking pass that will need to be displayed on the dashboard during their visit.
Service providers, such as contractors and delivery drivers, are not permitted into the community from July 4 through July 6. This does n ot apply to in-home health care services. Service providers needing access to the community need to be added as temporary guests for the day.
Violations and fines:
Safety-related violations will carry triple fines during the holiday weekend, from July 4 through July 6.
Illegal fireworks:
All fireworks, including sparklers, are illegal in Riverside County. Residents who use illegal fireworks within the community during the Fourth of July weekend may be fined $3,000 by the POA. Residents may also be fined by the City of Canyon Lake and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
