The POA’s next fiscal year starts May 1. Annual boat and golf cart registration renewals have been mailed to homeowners. Registrations are due by May 1. May is a grace period.
Proof of insurance is required to register a golf cart. Owners can obtain insurance through an automobile or homeowner’s policy. Unlike boat insurance requirements, there is no minimum liability coverage or additional insured clause required. The document will need to detail the member listed as “Name Insured” on the policy, the policy number, and the policy expiration date.
All motorized boats, including those powered by electricity, are required to provide insurance upon registration. The POA’s requirements are very specific. The POA recommends boat owners contact their agent to request a copy of their policy’s “Declaration Page,” which identifies the policy number and expiration date of the policy, eligible member as “Name Insured” on policy (prime, associates, lessees with privileges), description of boat, $300,000 minimum liability coverage per occurrence, and Canyon Lake POA named as an “Additional Insured” with the POA’s full address.
