The Canyon Lake Association of Past Presidents (CLAPPS) on Sunday inducted two new members: Barry Talbot and Bruce Wallace.
Formed in September 1989, the CLAPPS is made up of past presidents of the Men’s Golf Club. Talbot served as president of the Men’s Golf Club in 2020, Wallace in 2021. Both men were presented with the club’s traditional white jacket.
There are 15 active members of the CLAPPS: Jon Evans, Joe Kamashian, Travis Montgomery, Carlos Ramirez, Chuck Newsom, Joe Washle, Gary Bradford, Sam Theodore, Bruce Wallace, Barry Talbot, Dudley Thompson, Jim Lippen, Ken Mathes, Gene Brown, and Ron Deckert. Members meet monthly at the country club. Carlos Ramirez serves as the president.
The CLAPPS primarily organize the Beautification Golf Tournament. To date, the tournament has raised more than $100,000 for golf course improvement projects, such as new tee monuments, benches, and the $11,000 street clock installed on the golf course in 2018. The CLAPPS also coordinates the Men’s Golf Club’s Election of Officers and organizes an annual away tournament for board members of the Men’s Golf Club and Women’s Golf Club.
