Canyon Lake resident Heather Carroll is celebrating the release of her second novel, Sarah’s Story, a gripping romantic thriller set in Temecula, California.
Sarah’s Story takes readers on a rollercoaster journey of love, betrayal, and resilience in this compelling new book. Through Sarah’s journey, the book explores themes of survival, empowerment, and the courage it takes to reclaim one’s life.
At the heart of Sarah’s Story is a woman trapped in a toxic marriage. Misguided by the person who should love her the most, Sarah endures two decades of mental and physical abuse before finding the strength to break free. But just because the court declares her marriage over doesn’t mean her husband is ready to let her go. As Sarah embarks on her path to healing and independence, she soon realizes that true freedom comes at a cost—and danger may still be lurking in the shadows.
Sarah’s Story is Carroll’s second book, further cementing her place as a rising author.
In 2012, a psychic predicted Carroll would one day write a book. Carroll, who was not an avid reader, laughed it off. However, a decade later, while recuperating from a knee injury, Carroll developed a passion for books, reading nearly 20 per month. No longer content with just reading books, Carroll embarked on a journey to write one.
“I was searching for a happy outlet to express my creativity and stay mentally active,” Carroll said. “The research helped keep my connection with people while I was recuperating from my knee injury. If it were not for my injury, I don’t know if I would be writing. I would still be out walking the local trails. Everything happens for a reason.”
Carroll’s first novel, Twenty-Five Years, is an adult-themed romantic comedy about finding someone to share the joys of life with. “It’s a happy, feel-good comedy,” Carroll said. “It’s a funny, sweet, sexy story about finding the good in the bad and living life to the fullest.” Carroll’s friend, Canyon Lake resident and author Vanessa Colwell, designed the cover of the book.

Carroll is a 16-year resident of Canyon Lake, where she resides with her husband, two children, a dog and cats, and a neighborhood peacock she shares with the residents on her street. She is actively involved in two book clubs and is a member of the Canyon Lake Community Gardeners Club.
Carroll is currently working on her third book and has outlines for five additional books, promising more captivating stories to come.
