
The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club held its annual end-of-year banquet on January 25, celebrating its top anglers and introducing the 2025 board.
Angler Kevin Hugo earned the prestigious Angler of the Year title, with Damon Hole securing second place and Joe Merrill rounding out the top three.

The Biggest Bass of the Year award was presented to Nolan Cromwell for his impressive 11.34-pound catch.
Jim Wright was honored as Sportsman of the Year for his dedication and sportsmanship throughout the season.
The banquet also served as an opportunity to introduce the club’s 2025 board members, who will lead the club in the upcoming year. Mark Bowman will serve as president, with Billy Loeser will serve as vice president. They will be joined by Rich Blay as treasurer, Jerry Jones as secretary, and Jim Wright as weighmaster/tournament director.
The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club provides an exciting opportunity for anglers of all skill levels to showcase their talents and enjoy friendly competition on the water. Canyon Lake residents who enjoy fishing and want to improve their skills in a friendly, competitive environment are invited to join the club. Monthly fishing tournaments are held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday that follows the first Wednesday. Summer tournaments are held from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
