Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club presents Angler of the Year, Sportsman of the Year awards

The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club recently presented its 2021 annual awards during a banquet at the Canyon Lake County Club. For the past 12 months, club members battled for the biggest fish and most points.

Joe Merrill was named Angler of the Year. Jeremy Evans came in second place followed by a third place tie between Kevin Hugo and Jim Wright.

Dan Ewing was named Sportsman of the Year. The Big Bass of the Year award went to Jeremy Evans, who caught a bass weighing 8.41 lbs.

The Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club holds monthly tournaments on the first Saturday that follows the first Wednesday of each month. Tournaments are held from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Summer tournaments are held from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Canyon Lake residents who enjoy fishing and want to improve their skills in a friendly, competitive environment are invited to join the Bassmasters Club. For membership or tournament information, contact Chuck Moreno at 951-837-5941.
