The Canyon Lake Yacht Club hosted the annual Blessing of the Boats ceremony on Saturday, marking the official commencement of Canyon Lake’s boating season.

Yacht Club Commodore Rob Mora initiated the event with warm greetings, followed by the presentation of the American flag by Boy Scout Troop 2011, accompanied by Aprile McKinnon’s rendition of the national anthem.

Representing the City of Canyon Lake, Mayor Dale Welty offered remarks for a safe boating season. Director Joe Kamashian represented the POA and commended the Yacht Club for its many contributions to the community.

The event embraced tradition by welcoming Bruce Davis and Rick Tobin from the Shoreline Yacht Club of Long Beach. In keeping with tradition, burgees were exchanged between the two clubs, signifying camaraderie and goodwill.

Following three blasts of the Shoreline Yacht Club’s cannon, boating season officially commenced.

Pastor Thor Ramsey of Center Church delivered a prayer for safety upon the waters and bestowed individual blessings upon each passing boat from the dock, ensuring a season of safe voyages ahead. More than 25 boats were blessed.

Yacht Club members were invited to watch the ceremony from Mora’s lakefront home, where they enjoyed appetizers, drinks, and music played by a DJ.
