The members of Canyon Lake Choraleers recently started rehearsals for their upcoming spring concert, “The Spirit of Africa.” The program features energetic songs in Swahili, spirituals, a medley from “The Lion King,” and the song “Africa” by the band Toto.
“It’s a wonderful, fun concert with an exciting opportunity drawing at the intermission,” Director Lorilee Bajema said.
Those who have a passion for singing are invited to join the Choraleers. Rehearsals are held every Monday at 6:45 p.m. in the downstairs room at City Hall. Auditions are not required unless trying out for a solo part. “This is the most uplifting choir you’ll be in,” Bajema said.
Tickets for the May 13 concert will go on sale in March and will be available at Brown Paper Tickets and through members of the choir.
The Canyon Lake Choraleers are made up of members of the Canyon Lake community and surrounding areas. The Choraleers perform two major productions plus community events throughout the year. “We’re a small but growing friendly group,” Bajema said.
