Canyon Lake residents are invited to deck out their golf carts in holiday decor and take to the streets for the 13th Annual Christmas Golf Cart Parade and Toy Drive on Sunday, December 3.
Entry into the parade is an unwrapped toy for the Toy Drive. The lineup for parade participants starts at 4 p.m. on Blue Bird Drive. Waivers will be distributed and toy donations will be collected at that time. Participants are asked to carry a fire extinguisher on their golf carts.
The parade will start promptly at 5 p.m. and travel along Canyon Lake Drive to its endpoint at East Port Park, where there will be music, food available for purchase, and a presentation of trophies. Trophies will be awarded for the best-decorated golf carts in the categories of Best Theme, Most Outrageous, Best Lights, and Best of Show (Clark Griswold Award),
Spectators are invited to line the parade route and experience the spectacular color, pageantry, and fun of the parade.
There will be no street parking on Canyon Lake Drive adjacent to the parade route on December 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. Vehicles and golf carts may park on the opposite side of the street or on side streets during this time frame. During the parade, vehicle traffic will be reduced to 5 mph. Vehicles will not be permitted to pass the parade.
For the safety of the spectators and participants, distributing any items such as candy or promotional items on the parade route is prohibited.
This year’s toy drive will benefit International Christian Adoptions and Bethany Christian Foster Care. Spectators who wish to donate toys can drop off their donations at East Port Park at the end of the parade or place them in the collection box at 22055 Mustang Ct. during the weeks leading up to the parade.
The Christmas Golf Cart Parade and Toy Drive started in 2011 with approximately 20 golf carts. Last year, more than 110 golf carts participated in the parade and hundreds of toys were donated. For more information about this event, email Mike Shroyer at [email protected].
