Following a performance evaluation, the Canyon Lake City Council on Wednesday approved a salary increase for City Manager Chris Mann. Mann, who was appointed to the position of city manager on March 1, 2019, will receive an annual gross salary of $200,000.
City Attorney Steven Graham noted that Mann remains the lowest paid city manager in Riverside County. “The fact that he is the lowest paid city manager is not reflective of his worth, but our budget situation,” Councilwoman Kasey Castillo said.
Mann met all the goals set forth by the council for the previous fiscal year and was instrumental in helping the city to launch its own fire department.
Mann said he feels “grateful and blessed” to be in Canyon Lake and working with a cohesive and supportive council. Mayor Jeremy Smith praised Mann’s leadership.
