
The Canyon Lake City Council on Monday recognized Dr. Jennette Vanderpool as Canyon Lake’s December Citizen of the Month.
In November, Vanderpool was crowned Mrs. U.S. Women of Achievement. She competed against 42 delegates at the Women of Achievement Pageant and received the highest scores in the Overall, Platform, Speech, and Interview categories. Her platform is career path development for domestic violence victims.
Vanderpool is a domestic abuse survivor, She serves as the national spokesperson for the Mariposa Women Counseling Center and advocates for children with disabilities and creating more community-based sporting opportunities.
Vanderpool is a business owner and a special education administrator for the Lake Elsinore Unified School District. She resides in Canyon Lake with her husband, Matt, and children, Jake, 15, Bella, 11, Bridgette 9, and Brendan 4.
The Canyon Lake Citizen of the Month initiative was created in January of 2021 to honor Canyon Lake residents for their service to the community. Each awardee is recognized by the mayor with a certificate. Citizens of the Month are nominated by their neighbors and other community members by submitting their name and a short paragraph detailing their good work to [email protected] Residents of all ages are eligible to be nominated for this award.
