The Canyon Lake City Council recognized Jeanne O’Dell as its November Citizen of the Month.

A part-time resident from 1998 to 2005 and a full-time resident since 2006, Jeanne O’Dell has spent much of her time in Canyon Lake volunteering.

O’Dell has been a member of the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce for 22 years, serving on the board for the past 10 years and as president since 2019. As president, O’Dell is credited with rebranding the Canyon Lake Chamber.

“One of my proudest achievements as president is the partnership formed with the city,” O’Dell said. “Our partnership has resulted in numerous initiatives benefitting our business community.”

The former owner of Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant and Cantina has sponsored numerous community events and clubs. In 2016, Pepe’s was named Canyon Lake’s Business of the Year.

In addition to her volunteer work with the Canyon Lake Chamber, O’Dell served on the POA Facilities Planning Committee from 2010 to 2020 and on the POA Board of Directors for two years.

The Canyon Lake Citizen of the Month initiative was created in January 2021 to honor Canyon Lake residents for their service to the community. Each awardee is recognized by the mayor with a certificate. Community members are encouraged to nominate Citizens of the Month by submitting their names and a short paragraph detailing their good work to [email protected]. Residents of all ages are eligible to be nominated for this award.
