The Canyon Lake City Council honored 16-year-old Jayson Ceballos for being selected Student of the Month for September.
The Temescal Canyon High School senior has a 4.0 GPA. He is a student of the Engineering Academy and a member of the mountain bike team. He also works part-time at a local sushi restaurant where he was recently promoted to server.
Ceballos plans to pursue a mechanical engineering degree after high school graduation.
A Canyon Lake resident since the age of three, Ceballos is a former student of Cottonwood Elementary and Canyon Lake Middle School. He has one older sibling and three younger siblings.
When he is not studying or working, Ceballos enjoys reading, going to the gym with his friends, and watching NASCAR racing.
Outstanding LEUSD high school seniors are honored during the Student of the Month program, under the auspices of the Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce and BMW Management.
Students are individually nominated by teachers and selected for their character, love of learning, leadership, community service, and perseverance. The seven students selected each month are eligible for the Student of the Year recognition program, which features the top seven honorees selected from all prior Student of the Month honorees.
