Canyon Lake City Council to consider $1.5 million land purchase, fewer commercial cannabis permits

The Canyon Lake City Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, December 1, at 5 p.m. to consider the purchase of vacant land and the reduction of the number of commercial cannabis retail permits. The meeting is open to the public.

During the meeting, the council will consider adopting a resolution authorizing the city manager to negotiate and execute a Purchase and Sale Agreement for the acquisition of approximately 34.99 acres of vacant land, also known as Goat Hill, located on the northwest side of Railroad Canyon Road at Canyon Hills Road in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000. The Martin family is gifted more than 50 percent of the property to the City of Canyon Lake.

The council will also consider adopting a resolution that would reduce the maximum number of commercial cannabis retail permits from two to one, and authorize the city manager to meet with potential applicants.

Any member of the public wishing to address the council will be allotted three minutes to speak during the meeting.
