The POA Board of Directors on Tuesday approved the Community Gardeners Club as a sanctioned club. Some of the benefits of being recognized as a POA sanctioned club include discounted use of POA facilities and common areas, discounted menu items for club banquets, use of certain POA equipment for sanctioned club functions, advertisement for club functions and upcoming events, and club information and contact listing on the POA website.
Formed by resident Kelly Lopez, the Community Gardeners Club is a group of Canyon Lake residents who are working toward building a community garden in the community. The group will be meeting regularly to learn about gardening techniques and to share information, harvests, and seeds with each other.
To raise funds for a community garden, the club will have a booth on Fiesta Day, May 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Indian Beach and will be accepting donations in exchange for potted succulent plants, birdhouses, and floral crowns. The club will also have a composting exhibit with red wiggler worms and milkweed for monarch butterflies.
