Canyon Lake Community Gardeners Club hosts Pumpkin Succulent Workshop

The Canyon Lake Community Gardeners Club hosted a Pumpkin Succulent Workshop on Sunday at the East Port Activities Building. More than 60 people paid $10 each to attend the workshop. All supplies, as well as appetizers, were included in the price.

Using a pumpkin, moss, succulents, spray adhesive, and a glue gun, each attendee created a one-of-a-kind living pumpkin succulent arrangement. Once the pumpkin is past its prime, the succulents can be transitioned to a more permanent home, such as a pot or garden, and can be enjoyed for years to come.

The club was able to keep the cost of the workshop at a minimum thanks to community members who donated succulent cuttings, donations from local businesses, as well as pumpkin donations from Lowe’s.

“It was a great turn out and everyone had a lot of fun, plus about a dozen attendees signed up to join our club,” club founder Kelly Lopez said.

The club hopes to host a Succulent Topped Pinecone Workshop during the holiday season.

The club invites the community to attend its next general meeting on Wednesday, November 9, at 6 p.m. at the East Port Activities Building.

“If anyone is a member or is interested in becoming a member, we would really like them to attend meeting,” club founder Kelly Lopez said. “The discussion will include ideas for the coming year, possible workshops and outings, and ways to engage the community.”
