For its October 12 meeting at the lodge, the Canyon Lake Community Gardeners Club hosted a fall planting giveaway. There were plenty of free seeds and plants for those who attended.
The group discussed ways to improve the rose garden at the lodge, the petition for a community garden, ideas of what to plant in the fall, and how to amend soil.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 14, and will include a pruning demonstration.
The club is hosting a Pumpkin Succulent Workshop on Sunday, October 23, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Eastport Park Activities Building. The cost is $10.
The Community Gardeners Club was formed in February and approved as a POA sanctioned club in May. The state granted the club 501(c)3 status in June. Donations are tax-deductible.
