The Canyon Lake POA announced the performers for this year’s Countryfest, set to take place on Sunday, May 24, at the amphitheater at Holiday Harbor Park.
Hosted by the Canyon Lake POA, Countryfest is a free community concert for Canyon Lake residents and their guests.
This year’s lineup includes four performers: Bryan White, Deana Carter, Collin Raye, and David Cook.
Bryan White has charted 17 singles on the Billboard country charts, six of which reached No. 1: “Someone Else’s Star” in 1995, Rebecca Lynn’s “I’m Not Supposed to Love You Anymore,” “From This Moment On” (with Shania Twain), and “So Much for Pretending” in 1996, and “Sittin’ on Go” in 1997. By the late 90s, White had shared arena stages with Alan Jackson and Vince Gill, and co-headlined the Something to Talk About Tour with LeAnn Rimes—one of the highest-grossing tours of 1998. His songs have been recorded by Wynonna, Diamond Rio, Sawyer Brown, Joe Diffie, and LeAnn Rimes.
Deana Carter is best known for her 1990s country hits and storytelling style. Her 1996 debut album, Did I Shave My Legs for This?, was released in the mid-1990s and debuted at No. 2 on the U.S. Top Country Albums chart. The album produced two more No. 1 hits: “We Danced Anyway” and “How Do I Get There,” establishing Carter as one of country music’s standout female artists. “Strawberry Wine” won the Country Music Association Award for Song of the Year. Carter has released seven studio albums.
Collin Raye, who performed in Canyon Lake in 2016, is a country singer with 25 top 10 records and 16 No. 1 hits. Raye is known primarily for his country pop ballads, such as “Love, Me” and “In This Life,” one of the most popular wedding songs of the 1990s. Throughout his career, Raye has earned several award nominations from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association.
David Cook, who performed in Canyon Lake in 2015, rose to fame after winning the seventh season of American Idol in 2008. The week after his win, Cook had 11 songs debut on the Billboard Hot 11 chart simultaneously. The rock singer-songwriter has released four studio albums and 4 EPs.
This year, there will be two 7-by-15-foot LED screens, with one facing the lake for boaters and one facing the amphitheater to enhance viewing for attendees onshore. There will also be a variety of food vendors offering eats and treats.
