Canyon Lake couple Carol and Jim Brooks helped Team USA bring home the gold at the Pan American Waterski Championships October 28 through October 31 in Chapala, Mexico.
Carol earned a gold medal in slalom, a silver medal in trick, and a gold Team USA 55+ medal. Jim placed fifth in slalom in the 45+ division. He received a gold Team USA 45+ medal.
“Bringing home the gold for Team USA was a great way to close out the season,” Carol said.
In 2019, Carol earned a gold medal in slalom at the Pan American Waterski Championships in Peru. She also holds several regional titles and two national slalom titles.
Carol and Jim have been skiing for 24 years and competing in tournaments for 23 years. They relocated from Torrance to Canyon Lake “for the slalom course” 24 years ago. They joined the Canyon Lake Ski Club that same year. “They were so welcoming to our family,” Carol said. “They are now part of our extended family.”
