During the Canyon Lake City Council meeting on Wednesday, Fire Chief Jeff LaTendresse presented the fire department’s statistics for the months of August and September.
In August, Station 1 responded to 86 calls. They include six fire responses, 56 rescue/EMS incidents, eight service calls, 14 good intent calls, one hazardous call, and one false alarm.
The department responded to three fires in Canyon Lake and three in Meadowbrook. The fires in Canyon Lake include a vehicle fire on August 4 on Sprakle Dr. and Canyon Lake Drive South, a water heater fire on August 5 in the 29400 block of Stampede Way, and a barbeque fire on a deck on August 17 in the 29300 block of Vacation Drive.
The three fire responses in Meadowbrook include a brush fire on August 3, a vehicle fire with spread into brush on August 5, and a structure fire on August 16.
The average dispatch to en route response time in August was 1.02 minutes. The average en route to arrival time was 5.51 minutes. The average dispatch to arrival time was 6.46 minutes. These times represent the average of all CODE 3 EMS responses in the city. They do not include auto/mutual aid incidents.
The 90 percent fractile dispatch to en route response time was 1.34 minutes, en route to arrival time was 7.56 minutes, and dispatch to arrival time was 9.08 minutes.
Canyon Lake engines responded to 13 incidents outside the city in August. Riverside County/Cal Fire responded to seven incidents in the City of Canyon Lake.
In September, Station 1 responded to 111 calls. They include four fire responses, 73 rescue/EMS incidents, eight service calls, 19 good intent calls, one special incident call, and six false alarms.
The department responded to two fires in Canyon Lake and two in Lake Elsinore. The fires in Canyon Lake include an attic fire on September 18 on Stampede Way and a water heater fire on September 30 on Outrigger Drive.
The two fire responses in Lake Elsinore include a brush fire on September 10 and a false alarm vehicle fire on September 13.
The average dispatch to en route response time in September was 1.07 minutes. The average en route to arrival time was 5.19 minutes. The average dispatch to arrival time was 6.07 minutes. These times represent the average of all CODE 3 EMS responses in the city. They do not include auto/mutual aid incidents.
The 90 percent fractile dispatch to en route response time was 1.44 minutes, en route to arrival time was 7.59 minutes, and dispatch to arrival time was 9.09 minutes.
Canyon Lake engines responded to 22 incidents outside the city in September. Riverside County/Cal Fire responded to eight incidents in the City of Canyon Lake.
Training in August and September included rapid intervention crew training, wildland structure defense training, wildfire simulations, rope rescue training, bloodborne pathogen training, driver/operator training, and workplace violence.
Public outreach and education in August and September included attending Taco Tuesday/Maui Sunday, Movie Night at the Pool/Park, city hall groundbreaking, Men’s Golf Club tournament, Patriot Day event, Kids Fishing Derby, Harbor Fest, Battle of the Businesses, and daily interaction with the community.
