During the September 23 meeting of the Canyon Lake City Council, Fire Chief Jeff LaTendresse presented the Canyon Lake Fire Department’s report for August, highlighting 117 calls for service. Chief LaTendresse noted that August was the busiest month to date for 2025.
Calls for service include three fire calls, 83 rescue/EMS incident calls, one hazardous condition call, 13 service calls, nine good intent calls, and eight false alarms/false calls.
The average dispatch to en route response time was 0.44 minutes, en route to arrival time was 5.20 minutes, and dispatch to arrival time was 5.41 minutes. These times represent the average of all Code 3 EMS responses in the city. They do not include auto/mutual aid incidents.
The 90 percent fractile dispatch to en route response time was 1.16 minutes, en route to arrival time was 7.09 minutes, and dispatch to arrival time was 8.21 minutes.
Cal Fire responded to the City of Canyon Lake seven times in August. The Canyon Lake Fire Department responded to nine incidents outside the city. Eight were in the zip code of Lake Elsinore and one was in the City of Menifee.
Some of the department’s community outreach in the month of August included participating in National Night Out, Movie Nights, and Taco Tuesday events at the lodge.
Next month, the department will be participating in the City of Canyon Lake Golf Tournament, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the city’s Pumpkin Bash, the Property Owners Association Car Show, and the Jr. Women’s Club Rocktoberfest. The department will also be participating in National Fire Prevention Week, with visits to the Canyon Lake Library and Canyon Lake Community Church Preschool for storytime and tours of the fire engine.
