The Canyon Lake Fire Department on Wednesday held a farewell lunch for its Executive Assistant, Bailey Ward, who accepted a position working in the Community Service Department at the City of Corona.
When the City of Canyon Lake started forming its new fire department, Chief LaTendresse handpicked Ward to serve as the department’s administrative assistant/analyst. At the time, Ward was working as an office assistant for the city. Prior to that, Ward served as an intern.
“No matter where she goes, she’ll always be one of the originals,” Chief LaTendresse said. “She’ll be missed and difficult to replace.”
Ward was presented with a helmet shield, a plaque, and a pin.
“I’ve been so thankful to work for Canyon Lake,” Ward said in her farewell speech. “It was so hard to decide to leave, but I’m really excited to do something I always wanted to do, which is work for community services. I’m going to miss each and every one of you so, so much.”
During her time at the fire department, Ward graduated from California State University, San Bernardino, with a master’s degree in public administration. In July, her position at the fire department was reclassified from administrative assistant/analyst to executive assistant.
