The Canyon Lake Fire Department and the Canyon Lake Firefighters Association joined forces to recognize the vital contributions of dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, observed annually during the second full week in April.
On Saturday, April 19, the department honored 15 on-duty dispatchers at Perris Emergency Command Center by treating them to a special dinner as a gesture of appreciation for their dedication and service. The dispatchers enjoy a Lucille’s barbecue dinner consisting of ribs, tri-tip, chicken, and delicious sides.
“Being a former dispatcher, I personally appreciate what they do for us every day,” Fire Chief Jeff LaTendresse said.
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is a week-long event where the nation pauses to appreciate the often unseen heroes who are the first point of contact for emergencies. Offering support in moments of crisis, the dispatchers are the calm, steady voices behind every 911 call, providing critical information, dispatching emergency responders, and offering support in moments of crisis.
