Canyon Lake Fire Department responded to more than 100 calls for service in June

On July 12, Canyon Lake Fire Chief Jeff LaTendresse updated the public with the department’s monthly report for June.

Station 1 responded to 105 calls for service in June. Two were fire calls, 84 calls were rescue/EMS incidents, one was a hazardous condition call, three were service calls, 10 were good intent calls, and five were false alarms.

The two fire responses included a vehicle fire on June 17 in the 29000 block of Longhorn Drive and a structure fire on June 25 in the 22000 block of Canyon Lake Drive South. The fire was confined to a microwave oven.

The average dispatch to en route response time was 0.55 minutes, en route to arrival time was 5.09 minutes, and dispatch to arrival time was 5.55 minutes.

The 90 percent fractile dispatch to en route response time was 1.24 minutes. The department’s goal is 1.45 minutes. The en route to arrival time was 7.30 minutes. The department’s goal is 6.0 minutes. The dispatch to arrival time was 8.20 minutes. The department’s goal is 7.45 minutes.

Most of the incidents in June were on the south side.

Canyon Lake engines responded to 14 incidents outside the city. They include 11 incidents in the City of Lake Elsinore and three incidents in the City of Menifee. So far this year, Canyon Lake has responded to 82 incidents outside the city.

Riverside County/Cal Fire responded into the City of Canyon Lake 16 times for incidents in June, for a total of 50 responses this year.

A Shift trained 29 hours, B Shift trained 31 hours, and C Shift trained 35 hours. Training focused on wildland training, area familiarization on wildland, and fire simulations.

Some of the events firefighters participated in during the month of June include Movies in the Park, Taco Tuesday, and the Canyon Lake Fire Fighters Association Golf Cart Show.
