A vehicle driven by Canyon Lake Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Samuels was involved in a collision on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Railroad Canyon Road and Canyon Lake Drive South.
Samuels was en route to a fire call and following behind Engine 1 when the collision occurred.
“With all other vehicles stopped, as Samuels’ command vehicle proceeded cautiously through the intersection with lights and sirens, a mid-sized sedan failed to stop and drove through the intersection directly in front of the command vehicle,” the city said. “While the city cannot comment on the specifics of an incident under investigation, based on video taken at the scene, it does not appear that Chief Samuels was at fault. There were no injuries.”
Cal Fire Engine 94 was also en route to the fire call and stopped to assist with the collision while Engine 1 continued on. “Engine 1 arrived on the scene of a residence with a wood deck that had caught fire, and successfully resolved the incident,” the city said. “No injuries or further damage to the home were sustained.”
