Showcasing his talent at the Elsinore Woman’s Club 70th Annual Flower Show on Saturday, Canyon Lake resident Chris Papavero brought home an impressive collection of awards.
Held on April 18, the flower show drew a wide range of participants and featured an array of categories designed to appeal to gardeners and floral enthusiasts of all kinds. Entries included single flower displays, floral arrangements of varying sizes, potted plants, fairy gardens, miniature and teacup arrangements, monochromatic arrangements, and native wildflower exhibits.
Papavero’s succulent-focused designs stood out among a diverse field of entries, drawing recognition from judges for their creativity, presentation, and overall quality.
All seven of Papavero’s entries earned awards, including two first place ribbons, one second place ribbon, two third place ribbons, and two honorable mentions.
All of Papavero’s entries featured succulents, highlighting both the beauty and versatility of the drought-tolerant plants. His first place entry featured a blooming succulent, a creeping Charlie, and a peach tree grown from a seed.
Papavero started gardening at the age of five. His home-grown garden features 40 fruit trees, succulents, and an array of flowers. As the president of the Canyon Lake Community Gardeners Club, Papavero educates others on how to grow healthy gardens.
