Canyon Lake residents Jesse Beecher and Christopher Kuminkoski earned second place at the SCGA Four-Ball Net Championship. The tournament was held on October 10 and 11 at La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc, California.

Fifty-two teams participated in the 36-hole tournament. After an opening-round 69, Beecher and Kuminkoski nearly came back and won the championship with a second-round 61.

At the end of the first day, Beecher and Kuminkoski were minus three and in sixteenth place, five shorts out of first place.

Beecher and Kuminkoski managed to shoot minus 11 on the second day, which was the lowest score of the day. They ended the tournament minus 14, falling one stroke short and finishing tied for second place. They were awarded a silver plate, which was a first for both.

“We certainly came here wanting to do well, but after the first day, we thought we were out of it,” Beecher said. “To come back like we did on the second day was magical. We’d like to thank your caddie, KK Beecher, who walked the entire golf course each day and was a motivator.”

Last year, Beecher and Kuminkoski were one of six teams that tied for fifth place. “We’re going to keep coming back until we win first place,” Beecher said.
