Canyon Lake in Pictures: Cormorants

Sally Freyre submitted this photo of a group of cormorants resting on the dock at the north ski area.

Cormorants are fish-eaters, catching the prey by diving from the surface. Underwater, these excellent divers propel themselves with their feet with help of their wings. Some cormorant species have been found to dive as deep as 150 feet.

Canyon Lake in Pictures is a regular feature that offers Canyon Lakers the opportunity to share their photos with our readers. To submit a photo for publication consideration, email your photo as a .jpg file to [email protected]. Include the full name of the photographer and a brief description of the photo.
