Canyon Lake in Pictures: Memorial White Table

In honor of Memorial Day, Canyon Lake residents Linda and Bill Medved displayed a White Table on the deck of their lakefront home.

The White Table is a powerful symbol of remembrance for service members who have fallen, gone missing, or been held captive in the line of duty. This solemn tradition honors their sacrifices and signifies hope, representing the wish that these heroes will one day return home and fill the empty place at the table.

The table is small to show one soldier’s lonely battle against many.

The table is round to show everlasting devotion and concern for the nation’s fallen and missing comrades.

The cloth is white to symbolize the purity of their motives when answering the call to duty.

The single red rose, displayed in a vase, is a reminder of the life and blood that was shed, and their loved ones and friends who keep the faith and await answers.

The vase is tied with a red ribbon as a symbol of commitment and continued determination to account for the missing.

A slice of lemon on the plate is a reminder of the bitter fate of those captured and missing in a foreign land.

The salt is a reminder of the tears endured by those missing and their families who still seek answers.

The black napkin is a reminder of the isolation, deprivation, and cruel fate of the missing.

The Bible represents the strength gained through faith to sustain those lost from our country, founded as one nation under God.

The glass is inverted to symbolize their inability to toast with us.

The candle is reminiscent of the light of hope that lives in our hearts to illuminate their way home, away from their captors, to the open arms of a grateful nation.

The chair is empty and tilted, because they are not here, and will remain so until they return or are accounted for.

Canyon Lake in Pictures is a regular feature that offers residents the opportunity to share their photos of Canyon Lake with our readers.
