On Friday, the Canyon Lake Jr. Women’s Club (JWC) awarded scholarships to seven Canyon Lake students. The club awarded $10,000 in total.
This year’s recipients are Riley Smith, Mariah Querequincia, Tori Quinn, Connor Martilla, Jesse Harman Rupe, Nicole Allen, and Kendra Nathan. All recipients are high school seniors who earned a 4.0 GPA or higher. Scholarship consideration was based on GPA, an essay, volunteer work, and an interview.
Caravaning in decorated golf carts, JWC members personally delivered the scholarships to each student. The scholarships were accompanied by an “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” book with a special message from the club. In addition, each parent received a note commending their child and thanking them for being great parents.
JWC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) philanthropic club that raises funds throughout the year to provide scholarships to deserving students and to help families in need.
