Sponsored by the Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club, 232 kids ages five to 15 participated in the 36th Annual Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, September 17. Participants were allowed to fish anywhere around the lake until 11 a.m., then weigh in their best three fish in each species.
Trophies were awarded in three age groups and for the biggest fish for each species. The winners are as follows:
Ages 5 to 7
1st place: Parker White, 13.97 lbs. (three catfish)
2nd place: Lockin Wright, 13.19 lbs. (three catfish)
3rd place: Nixon and Colt, 12.69 lbs. (three catfish)
Ages 8 to 11
1st place: Paris Alanbar, 15.39 lbs. (one carp)
2nd place: Ava Aguirre, 13.25 lbs. (three catfish)
3rd place: Aidan Moreno, 10.90 lbs. (three catfish)
Ages 12 to 15
1st place: Jacob Holter, 15 lbs. (three catfish)
2nd place: Nathaniel Beardsley, 13.74 lbs. (three catfish)
3rd place: Ryan Rudnick, 13.34 lbs. (three catfish, two bluegills)
Biggest Fish
Bluegill: Connor Fulkerson, 1.37 lbs.
Catfish: Reed Brenton, 6.31 lbs.
Carp: Michael Pulley, 22.85 lbs.
Participants and their families received a free lunch. All registered participants received a prize and were entered into a drawing to win one of four bicycles.
