
Hosted by the Canyon Lake Bassmasters Club, more than 270 kids ages five to 15 participate in the 37 Annual Canyon Lake Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday.
Participants were allowed to fish anywhere on the lake between 6 and 11 a.m. Weigh-in, a complimentary lunch, a participation prize and bicycle raffle, and the presentation of trophies took place starting at noon at Holiday Harbor Park. Participants were allowed to weigh in their three biggest fish per species. (bluegill, crappie, catfish, and carp).



While all participants received a prize, the anglers who reeled in the biggest haul and the largest fish in each category were presented with a trophy.
In the five to seven age group, Locklin Wright took first place with three catfish and one bluegill weighing in at 17.38 pounds. Hudson Lingrem took second place with three catfish weighing in at 16.94 pounds. Jewel Crew rounded out the top three with three catfish weighing in at 9.63 pounds.
In the eight to 11 age group, Parker White took first place with three catfish weighing in at 13.95 pounds. Mya Rosenzweig earned second place with her haul of three catfish and three bluegill weighing in 13.27 pounds. Owen Ridgeway came in third place with three catfish weighing in at 12.26 pounds.
In the 12 to 15 age group, Aidan Moreno took the top spot with three catfish weighing in at 20 pounds. Carter Miller came in second place with three catfish weighing in at 14.56 pounds. Mike Pulley took third place with three catfish weighing in 13.73 pounds.
RJ Jaffe won a trophy for catching the biggest catfish in the tournament. His fish weighed in at 9.79 pounds. Raymond Garcia caught the biggest bluegill, 1.33 pounds. Five-year-old Weston Barker caught the biggest crappie, 1.33 pounds. The biggest carp trophy went to Grayson Williams, who reeled in the biggest carp weighing in at 11.74 pounds.
Participants and their families were treated to a free lunch of hotdogs, chips, drinks, and snow cones. Volunteers cooked up 500 hotdogs.
