Canyon Lake kids invited to participate in lake awareness coloring contest

Coloring pages are available at the Canyon Lake POA office, Canyon Lake Library, Canyon Lake Country Club, and Canyon Lake Lodge.

The Canyon Lake Lions Club, in partnership with the Canyon Lake Lake Advocacy Committee, is holding a coloring contest designed to promote environmental awareness.

The coloring contest will take place during Fiesta Day on May 23, at Holiday Harbor Park, where children are encouraged to submit one or both coloring pages to the Lions Club booth.

The coloring pages are available ahead of the event at several convenient locations, including the Canyon Lake POA office, Canyon Lake Library, and both the Canyon Lake Lodge and Canyon Lake Country Club. For those who prefer to color on-site, a kid-friendly table with supplies will be set up at the Lions Club booth on Fiesta Day.

Open to children ages 10 and under, the contest features three age categories: 4 and under, 5 to 7, and 8 to 10. Every participant will receive a free “Happy Fish” sticker, and winners in each category will be awarded beach toys. Participants do not need to be present to win.

Adding to the educational experience, Canyon Lake resident and scuba diver Adam Fisher will be featured at the Lions Club booth during Fiesta Day. Fisher will showcase a collection of items he has recovered from the bottom of the lake, along with photos highlighting some of his unique finds. Fisher will offer a firsthand look at what ends up beneath the surface, reinforcing the importance of keeping the lake clean.

This initiative is part of Lions Clubs International’s global week of service. As part of that mission, the Lions Club teamed up with the CLPOA Lake Advocacy Committee to help residents—especially younger ones—become more familiar with lake education materials and learn how to help protect Canyon Lake.

In addition, the Canyon Lake POA has developed a quiz to accompany each of its lake education articles. The quiz will be promoted weekly on social media beginning in May. Members who complete a quiz will be entered into a weekly raffle, with one winner per week receiving a $25 CLPOA gift card. The quiz will run for weeks.
