In partnership with California State Parks, the Canyon Lake Enrichment Activities and Recreation (C.L.E.A.R) Foundation held its second Jr. Lifeguards tryouts this morning at Sunset Beach. Community members and firefighters of the Canyon Lake Fire Department were on hand to cheer on participants.
Those who qualified at tryouts will receive an invitation to participate in the Jr. Lifeguard Program at Lake Perris. There will be two, two-week summer sessions: June 20 through July 1 and July 11 through July 22. The cost for each two-week session is $260, with a $20 discount for siblings. Bus transportation to Lake Perris will be paid for by the City of Canyon Lake through ARPA funds.

Forty of the 65 kids who signed up to participate in this summer’s Jr. Lifeguard Program at Lake Perris are from Canyon Lake, according to Jr. Lifeguard Coordinator Jon Hernandez.
C.L.E.A.R. is working to ensure that no Canyon Lake child is unable to attend due to the cost of the program and will be offering a limited number of sponsorships to those with financial hardship.
The goal of the C.L.E.A.R. Foundation is to bring a similar program to Canyon Lake next summer and to provide outdoor summer opportunities to Canyon Lake youth.
The C.L.E.A.R. Foundation has also partnered with Outdoors Adventures by Boojum to offer a one-day and an overnight program in Idyllwild in June. The camp will offer a high and low ropes course and team-building activities.
