In partnership with California State Parks, the Canyon Lake Enrichment, Activities and Recreation (C.L.E.A.R.) Foundation held Jr. Lifeguard tryouts on Saturday at the Canyon Lake pool. Twelve kids tested.
A second tryout will be held on May 10 at the State Recreation Area Lake Perris. Kids who passed the first tryout or participated in Jr. Lifeguards last year do not need to attend a second tryout.
Participants will be required to swim 100 yards in under three minutes and tread water for two minutes. Scores will be recorded. Jr. Lifeguards is not swimming lessons, potential participants must be able to meet the California State Parks criteria.
Participants who qualified at tryouts will receive an invitation to participate in the Jr. Lifeguards program from June 19 through June 30 at Lake Perris.
Bus transportation to Lake Perris will be sponsored by the City of Canyon Lake and will be first-come first-served. A bus etiquette contract for the rider and proof of registration with ReserveCalifornia (ReserveCalifornia.com) will be required.
C.L.E.A.R. will be partnering with the Canyon Lake Water Ski Club and Wakeboard Club to host an additional summer camp from July 24 through July 26.
Campers will have an opportunity to wakeboard, waterski, and participate in Lake testing/science projects with the Water District, Lunch will be provided. Additional details will be announced at a later date.
C.L.E.A.R. will also be hosting a fundraiser, “A CLEAR Night Under the Stars,” on July 29 from 5 to 10 p.m. at Holiday Harbor.
This 21-and-over event will feature a cajun-style dinner-dance, live entertainment, and a silent auction. Tickets can be purchased at www.givebutter.com/cleardance. Seating is limited.
The CLEAR Foundation is a nonprofit, philanthropic, charitable foundation geared at enriching the lives of Canyon Lake kids. The foundation was born out of a need for a hub to interface with the city, POA, water district, community clubs and groups, local businesses, and community members that want to contribute to a tax-exempt program that benefits Canyon Lake kids.
