Batter up! Canyon Lake Little League Friday Night Lights is March 1, Opening Day is March 2

The Canyon Lake Little League will be kicking off its 2024 season with Friday Night Lights on Friday, March 1, at 6:30 p.m. with a Major Division game between the Blue Jays and Dodgers. The league invites the community to cheer on the players and enjoy some delicious tacos, which will be available in the snack bar starting at 5:30. Tacos sell for $3 each or three for $7. Jose Churros will be selling churros and ice cream cups.

Opening Day kicks off on Saturday, March 2, at 8 a.m. The league extends an invitation to the community to join in the celebration and excitement of Opening Day.

From 8 to 10 a.m., the snack bar will be offering a pancake and sausage breakfast for $6. After 10 a.m., hotdogs and hamburgers will be available for purchase for those craving classic ballpark fare. The league will also have a booth selling baseball merchandise.

In honor of the late Eric Frega, a Canyon Lake Little League coach who lost his battle with cancer earlier this month, a silent auction will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Proceeds will go directly to support the Frega family during this difficult time. To commemorate Frega’s legacy, his son will have the honor of throwing out the first pitch. Additionally, all jerseys will feature a special purple ribbon in memory of Frega, serving as a poignant tribute to his contributions to the Canyon Lake community and the sport he loved.

Teams will be entering the field at approximately 9:45 a.m. for Opening Day ceremonies. Ceremonies include a parade of players, a welcome from the president, the national anthem, and the first pitch. Games will start shortly after the conclusion of the ceremonies.

Canyon Lake Little League serves Boys and girls ages four to 14 who reside in Canyon Lake, Canyon Hills, and Westridge.
