The Canyon Lake Lodge has a fresh new look, as the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association (POA) replaced the grass with artificial turf this week. In November 2025, the POA Board of Directors approved $95,783 for the project.
Due to the increased lawn venue usage since its installation in 2023, maintaining natural grass has become increasingly challenging. Heavy foot traffic, event setups, and water scheduling challenges made it difficult to maintain a lush, green lawn that looked inviting.
The decision to install artificial turf is aimed at creating a more durable and visually consistent surface that can withstand frequent use. Unlike natural grass, the turf will not become muddy, patchy, or worn down like grass. It is designed to remain lush and uniform throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions, shade, or soil quality.
Beyond aesthetics and durability, the switch is also expected to reduce ongoing maintenance and operational costs. Artificial turf eliminates the need for mowing, edging, fertilizing, and most irrigation. Aside from occasional rinsing, the new surface will require minimal upkeep, helping to reduce landscaping labor and water use.
The POA estimates that the new turf could generate approximately $14,000 in annual savings through reduced maintenance and water usage.
