On August 1, the Canyon Lake Property Owners Association presented its Marine Patrol report for incidents that occurred from June 23 through July 27. The report highlighted 289 calls for service.
Staff performed 118 boat safety inspections, 64 quagga inspections, 19 boat tows, seven fishing license checks, and 275 debris/other retrieval and disposal.
In addition to 71 verbal and five written warnings, staff issued 54 citations. Citations include three for expired/no registration (State), four for expired/no registration (POA), 39 for expired/no registration at a dock or lift, two for excessive wake in a no-wake zone, one for reckless behavior while operating a motorized boat, one for failure to present a valid ID/CBC, and four “other” violations.
Patrol boats operated 257.2 hours on the main lake, 190.3 hours on the East Bay, and 22 hours on the north ski area.
Boat one operated 179.7 hours, boat two operated 202.2 hours, boat three operated 26.2 hours, and boat four operated 61.4 hours.
Unlike Community Patrol employees, Marine Patrol employees are employed by the POA. Its primary functions are compliance with rules and regulations, quagga and boat safety inspections, and incident observation and reporting to the POA.
