Canyon Lake mayor pro tem arrested on suspicion of DUI

A Canyon Lake council member was arrested on Saturday on misdemeanor DUI charges.

Mayor Pro Tem Mark Terry was arrested shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Canyon Lake Drive North in the City of Canyon Lake. Terry was arrested for a misdemeanor DUI and child endangerment. His bail was set at $3,500 and he was released the same day, according to jail records.

In a statement following his arrest, Terry acknowledged that he had been involved “in a traffic incident involving a parked vehicle.” No injuries were reported.

“As a public servant, I recognize the importance of upholding a higher standard of conduct, which demands personal accountability for my actions,” Terry said. “I want to sincerely apologize to my family, our residents, and my colleagues for any actions of mine that may have fallen short of that expectation. I take full responsibility for yesterday’s events and am committed to making things right. My dedication to serving the community remains unwavering.”

Terry is scheduled to appear in court on October 15.

Terry was appointed to the council in 2022 to fill the seat vacated by Councilman Larry Green, who relocated to another state during his tenure. He was appointed mayor pro tem in December 2023. His term on the council ends in 2024.
