Sponsored by the Canyon Lake Yacht Club, the Parade of Lights Boat Parade is a time-honored holiday tradition. On Saturday evening, thousands of Canyon Lake residents and their guests watched from lakefront homes and parks as the Yacht Club’s iconic fire-breathing Green Dragon led a flotilla of festively-decorated boats around the lake.

This year, there were 19 official entries and about five unofficial entries. Two entries dropped out due to illness. In all, more than 20 boats participate in the 40th Annual Parade of Lights.

The Cassidy family’s Jawsome Christmas Shark was the crowd favorite and the winner of the Commodore’s Award.

The Gum Drop Good Gingerbread House by Rob Mora and Lainie Cooney took second place. Rounding out the top three was the Choo Choo Train by Diann and Brian Oltman.

Addition winners will be announced in January at the Yacht’s Club’s Parade of Lights Awards Dinner, according to Parade Chairman Dave Dain. “Thank you to all our sponsors and volunteers,” Dain said. “We couldn’t have done it without your support.”
