The Canyon Lake Pickleball Club held its Hot August Nights Tournament on Friday, August 19, and Saturday, August 20. The two-night event featured beginner and intermediate tournaments and a club-sponsored barbecue.
Scoring a perfect 44 points, Paul Robles, Kimberly Keigwin, and Jimmy Sisco were undefeated and tied for first place.
Tom Garcia and Steve Libring tied for second place, each scoring 36 points and winning three out of four matches. Joe Garcia took third place with 31 points.
The beginner group played the prior evening. Many of these players signed up for first-time lessons within the last two months and this was their first tournament as a Pickleball Club member.
The top prize went to beginner Mark Tostado with a perfect 33 points. Second place went to Anne Thompson with 32 points. John Sappington and Jason Kirkish tied for third place with 31 points.
“It was a beautiful summer evening watching the sunset on the lake and enjoying the fabulous barbecue dinner supplied by the club,” Secretary Steve Libring said. “Many of these players had never played two months ago and just started by taking advantage of our free lessons each Monday night in July and August from 7 to 9 p.m. It was great to see them all do so good and have so much fun.”
