Twenty players participated in the Canyon Lake Pickleball Club’s Poker Night Tournament. The tournament randomly pairs players to play four games each.

Prior to starting, each player draws their initial poker hand of six cards. They are able to draw an additional card each time they win one of the four games. Each player has a possible 10 cards to make the best five-card hand.

In the A Group, Mike Kidd took first place with a diamond flush. Steve Davenport came in second with a straight. Nancy Ford’s three fives earned her third place.

In the B Group, Ann Thomas placed first with a full house. Susie Cook took second place with a queen high diamond flush. With three eights, Melanie Martinez earned third place.

The winners were awarded gift cards that can be used at the lodge and country club.

Players and spectators enjoyed a pizza buffet supplied by the Pickleball Club.

“Overall, it was a fun Sunday afternoon enjoying the great weather and beautiful lake view,” club Secretary Steve Libring said.

The Pickleball Club hosts six free tournaments and 16 free social events throughout the year for its 483 club members. Club dues are $10 per year. For more information about the club or membership, contact Steve Libring at [email protected]
