The Canyon Lake POA Board of Directors on Tuesday approved nearly $3 million dollars to renovate the Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar and outdoor patio area. The funds for these renovation projects will come from two reserve funds: Capital Improvement Fund and the Repair and Replacement Reserve Fund.
By a vote of 4-1, the board approved $1.5 million from the Repair and Replacement Reserve Fund to renovate the interior of the Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar.
Also by a vote of 4-1, the board approved $1.4 million for the outdoor patio renovation with $900,000 coming from the Repair and Replacement Reserve Fund and $500,000 coming from the Capital Improvement Fund.
The interior project consists of reconfiguring the bar, enlarging the bar storage area, adding a front patio service window, flooring, furniture, custom light fixtures, a window wall, wood beams and slates, a fireplace, and windows and doors. The design of that project, in particular the bar area and service bar, were designed specifically to be able to serve a much larger front patio dining area.
The POA received six bids, ranging from $1.3 to $3.2 million, for the interior project.
The exterior project consists of a new and enlarged outdoor dining area, patio, and event space. The design includes lounge seating, gas firepits, a large overhead shade structure, landscaping, lighting, and a bandstand/wedding area with an overhead trellis.
The POA received 10 bids, ranging from $900,000 to $2 million, for the exterior project; however, not all of the bids were complete.
The POA’s next step will be to award the bid. Once the project begins, it is expected to be completed in 120 days, weather permitting.
The last remodel the lodge received was in 2014.
Correction: The $1.5 million approved to renovate the interior of the lodge is coming from the Repair and Replacement Reserve Fund and not the Capital Improvement Fund as originally reported.
