The Canyon Lake POA Board of Directors on Tuesday approved funding in the amount of $392,383.20 for the Happy Camp Restroom Remodel Project.
In September 2020, the board approved the hiring of a design team to come up with a remodel design for the original 37‐year‐old restroom building at Happy Camp.
The POA recently released a Request for Proposal for a full remodel on the building. The scope of work includes demolition of the inside, new plumbing, electrical, countertops, drywall, tile, restroom, and shower stalls.
The exterior work includes a new roof, stucco, stone veneer, windows, patio cover, doors, and walkways. When finished, the building will have a modern look matching today’s POA building standards and city codes including current accessibility compliance for ADA.
The POA invited more than 170 General Contractors to review the bid documents and received five bids ranging from $330,300 to $563,000. The lower bid was thrown out due to errors within the bid, the POA said.
Temporary restrooms will be brought on-site to accommodate campground guests while the restroom building is under construction.
